Trippin with the Kandasamys is the third instalment movie of the Kandasamys directed by Jayan Moodley, which is currently streaming on Netflix. This South African comedy-drama comes with a running time of 1 hour and 33 minutes.

The whole cast has worked together in the previous franchises and has entertained their audience thoroughly. The first movie was Keeping Up with the Kandasamys which received too much popularity among the South-African and global audience, maybe because of the name as it sounds similar to Kardashians. But, never mind, the second movie was Seriously Single and now they have come up with a brand new movie, Trippin with the Kandasamys. So how much you are going to trip?

The movie has a hilarious effect on the audience and trust me, you will get fits of laughter. It has relationship drama, chaos, fun, and a lot more to unravel.

The story begins when best-friends turned in-laws Jennifer (Jailoshini Naidoo) and Shanti (Maeshni Naicker) plan a couples’ getaway to reignite their marriage. But little did they know that their husbands have planned something else for them. Surprise, surprise! The whole family is there making it a family trip instead of the couples’ getaway.

Things start to get chaotic even more when surprisingly Baby, Shanti’s younger sister-in-law, makes an appearance on the trip. Well, she is just not only young but also very gorgeous. Now, you can make 2 and 2=4. If you can’t then watch this chaotic fun family drama.

I really like how Jayan Moodley helmed the whole storyline with utmost care and build up the characters of the movie with so much detail but never missed out on the fun and comedy part. The actors including Madhushan Singh, Mishqah Parthiephal, Yugan Naidoo and Koobeshen Naidoo, Maeshni Naicker, Jailoshini Naidoo, and others have done a great job. It was a treat to watch Mariam Bassa as Aya with her one-liners which will get you instantly.

The best part of this whole franchise is that you don’t have to think about what’s happening, the director shows you with much-elaborated scenes, and the actors portray it with so realistic touch that you are bound to feel connected to them.

Well, nothing can be flawless, can it? The director has really tried her best to put it out there but the story is known to all of us. Maybe the dialogues are different and the dialogue delivery has variations but the storyline has predictable components. It’s a dysfunctional family that faces ups and downs but yet comes together at the end.

That being said, this movie is highly recommendable and needs to be watched. I absolutely enjoyed every bit of it because it has a unique emotional bond where you will feel connected to it and won’t miss a minute without laughing. Also, hey, don’t miss out on the Bollywood number at the last.

Trippin with the Kandasamys is currently streaming on Netflix.
