The Serpent Review 2020 Tv Show Series Season Cast Crew Online

Stars: Ellie Bamber, Jenna Coleman, Tahar Rahim

Netflix and BBC’s serial killer series “The Serpent” is one of the international shows whose filming was impacted by the pandemic, and required shifting production from Asia to Europe.

The drama, which stars Tahar Rahim (“A Prophet”) as the French conman and mass murderer Charles Sobhraj, was on its last stretch of shooting on location in Thailand in late March when the country went into lockdown. After a near five-month pause, the series had to relocate filming to the U.K. where production decamped in Hertfordshire, just north of London, on Aug. 17. The lensing, which took place for 10 days and will conclude Friday, consisted of remaining scenes that were initially scheduled to be shot in Thailand in March.

What will happen in The Serpent on Netflix?

The Serpent will follow the French serial killer Charles Sobhraj, who was a conman and mass murderer.

The drama series will focus on how the elusive killer was caught and brought to trial by a young diplomat from the Dutch Embassy in Bangkok called Herman Knippenberg.

Sobhraj was known to pray on Western tourists on the Hippie Trail of Southeast Asia during the 1970s.

He was nicknamed The Serpent and The Splitting Killer during this time due to his ability to evade capture for so long.

The convicted murderer was also known to escaped prison more than once.

The only person who has been cast in the show so far is Tahar Rahim, who will be playing Sobhraj.

He told Variety about the news: “I am thrilled to play Charles Sobhraj in The Serpent, a role I have dreamed of portraying since I read a book about him when I was 17-years-old.

“I couldn’t be happier than to make it under the direction of Tom Shankland and writers Richard Warlow and Toby Finlay.”

Rahim is known for playing Ali Soufan in the Hulu miniseries The Looming Tower, as well as starring as the lead in Jaques Audiard’s Oscar-winning film A Prophet.

Viewers will next see the actor appearing in Netflix show The Eddy about a French club owner created by the director of La La Land, Damien Chazelle.

Other parts in the show have not yet been announced by Netflix and BBC, including who will play the role of Knippenberg.
