The Santa Clauses Review 2022 Tv Show Series Season Cast Crew
Disney+ premieres this Wednesday, November 16, the series ‘What a Claus family!’ , a direct sequel to the famous Christmas trilogy ‘Go Santa Claus!’ .
Scott Calvin is about to turn 65 and realizes he can’t be Santa Claus forever . He suddenly begins to lose his Santa Claus magic and, more importantly, has a family that could use a life in the normal world , especially his two sons who have grown up in the North Pole.
With plenty of elves, children, and family to please, Scott sets out to find a suitable substitute Santa Claus while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the pole .
The 6-episode series created by Jack Burditt (One for All) marks Tim Allen ‘s return to one of his most memorable characters. Also returning are Elizabeth Mitchell as Mrs. Claus and Eric Lloyd as Charlie . Rounding out the cast are Kal Penn, Matilda Lawler, Rupali Redd, Elizabeth Allen-Dick, Isabella Bennett, Devin Bright, Laura San Giacomo and Austin Kane , among others.
This Wednesday we will receive another hit in all our nostalgia from Disney + , and there are already so many throughout its short life that it is impossible for me to remember all of them . On this occasion, the mythical Christmas movie ‘¡Vaya Santa Claus!’ and its infamous sequels continue in this series which, surely at no time would its existence have occurred to anyone -much less asked- . However, the fiction arrives at a curious time, one in which the so-called “Christmas spirit” is much more scarce than during the dreamy 90s . Unless that means waking up around this time with a tree loaded with gifts, of course.
The cinema was very much to blame for this spirit being so widespread during that decade , just as the lack of iconic family proposals -among many other things, of course- has contributed to popular culture losing its taste for the festivity. ‘Home Alone’ , ‘A Father in Trouble’ , ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ , the remake of ‘Miracle in the City’ or, how could it be otherwise, also the one starring Tim Allen are several of them. And it may not have been that many either and the quality of some of them is highly debatable, but the magic that overflowed from each one of them has been practically impossible to replicate. .
However, in this modern world, an essential issue arises when one sees this type of film: contrary to what they preach, not all of us celebrate Christmas, nor do we have to, much less is it necessary . And that, in today’s increasingly diverse audiovisual world, clearly deserved an exploration . This is the terrain through which the series moves, with Santa losing his magic because he has basically come face to face with the society of social networks, the metaverse, the economic crisis and the decline of traditions. And every year it gets worse .
With an Allen in top form and maintaining the original cast in its entirety, in its first two episodes ‘What a Claus family!’ It ‘s what one expects to see, for better and for worse: a funny series that maintains the spirit of the trilogy, with goofy 90s humor and some rather modest special effects . A photograph that does not seem to have a clear format of fiction and makes use of a handheld camera that feels out of place is especially surprising.
In addition, it is not that the writers have squeezed their heads a lot to shape the plot . After all, exploiting generational conflicts is the easiest and most logical decision for the state in which your characters find themselves . All that remains is for the villain on duty to appear to round off the obvious. We will have to see if it will end up being another Christmas bubble or, on the contrary, the script will be brave when it comes to reaching a conclusion that is coherent with its possible message .
