Gandii Baat Review 2019 TV-Show Series Cast Crew Online

Stars: Neetha Shetty, Rohit Choudhury, Anant Joshi

Review: The trailer of Gandii Baat on Youtube fanned fantasies of millions, spreading like Australian fire, satiating desires of sexual escapades.

Directed by Sachin Mohite of ‘Savdhaan India’ fame, the show stars Anant Joshi, Narayani Shastri, Vikas Verma, Neetha Shetty, Rohit Choudhary, Rajesh Tripathi, Deepika Khanna, Mrinalini Tyagi, Naveen Pandita, Vaibhav Shah, Nirban Goswami.

In the first episode a rural lothario lusts for a married “bhabhiji” in his neighbourhood. He makes several advances towards her, which evoke strong rebuffs from her & her husband. But turns out that her husband is not the man he seems to be. Emboldened by this information, he aggressively goes after the woman he lusts after & she ends up bedding him. News of their affair spreads & the husband too gets to know about it. He catches them in the act, but doesn’t kill them & neither does he beat the BF up. In fact he does something no one would imagine!

In the second episode a kinky couple add spice to their married life by indulging in role play.

The husband regularly orders kinky sex toys over the internet. This piques the curiosity of his father, which leads to disastrous consequences. There are a total of four episodes.
All the episodes have a rural setting. But one can imagine the story playing out in urban homes as well. The trailer gives one the feeling that the show has a skin show in every other scene. But the truth is far from it. Every episode does have a few scenes. But the show doesn’t revolve solely around sex. It does have a tight script. The show in fact speaks about the perils of lust. The show can be enjoyed the Netflix, Amazon Prime audiences as well. The acting is decent. The production quality too doesn’t seem to be lacking.

The length of the episode at 38-45 mins does feel long a times, but the makers manage to hold your interest. The actors with their shaved chests & waxed legs don’t look like they are from a tier 2-3 town, but one can look over that minor flaw. You will have to shell out a minimum of INR 100 to watch the show.

It is probably the show which offers the most amount of skin show, but keeps you hooked thanks to the writing. You will watch it hoping to get titillated, but end up liking the show overall. Ekta Kapoor has had good amount of success in adult movies & TV shows earlier. Looks like this tryst with an adult show for her OTT platform too is likely to succeed

Gandii Baat, the title is anti climatic. While binge watching the series, one can anticipate the obvious insinuation, however, to what degree is what one has to figure out.

Ekta Kapoor and her team of minds dole out a hedonistic, absurd, nonsensical, sex toned story which is more bizarre than arousing.

Gandii Baat aims to sell sex and shock and it does it well. The series toys with notionally taboo subjects like threesome, BDSM, animal sex (the snake ‘Vasu Nag’ episode) and so on and so forth.

The universal ‘titillating’ lure draws you into the narrative, which becomes mundane and monotonous with passing time.

Replete with crudity, sexual innuendos and misogynistic scenes, Gandii Baat attempts to be a rebel content, delving into ‘you cannot mention’ topics but sadly, it puts its faith too much on sex than the ‘real’ stories of small town. Apart from fantasies and fanaticism, the narrative could have been more evocative, depicting varied nuances of the characters in play.

Truly, balls gain over brains in this story… which is not such a acchi baat. Gandii Baat doesn’t rise above the clinical, it skims the surface and what could have been gritty and grim, ends up being loutish.

The idea is interesting, making a concoction of India and Bharat, the two worlds stirred with lust and lascivious, often propelling sinister ambitions.

When Ekta Kapoor mentioned the show being India’s own Black Mirror, it genuinely piqued audience interest. However, Gandi Baat is all but Black Mirror. It is a click-baity attempt to cater to baser human emotions and use the age old formula to gain finite immediate viewership in web entertainment where censorship is still not available.

And Ekta’s fascination with snakes dribbles from television to web (as well) where women are shown getting laid with snakes.

Internet is both a boon and a bane. In Gandii Baat, it’s like the Pandora’s Box, one vice leads to another… oscillating between realms of horny to hilarious.

Performances are loud and over the top, and blend with the stories. Characters look more urbane than rural. The background score with sex sounds find inspiration from soft porn and the overall treatment and feel has a Kashyap like ‘Wasseypur’ feel.

If you have nothing else to do on a certain evening then enjoy a brainless entertainment like Gandii Baat. Watch it at your own risk. ALTBalaji is churning out one content piece after another in quick time, however, after hitting gold with Bose, the platform is yet to create a series which will be termed as a ‘web classic’.

Gandii Baat is produced and directed by Sachin Mohite of Jaasvand Entertainment.
