DC League of Super-Pets 2022 Movie Review Poster Trailer Online
There have been a number of DC animated films published over the years, but they haven’t always found their way to the big screen. In 2022, however, Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Animation Group, DC Entertainment, and Seven Bucks Productions will release an animated big-screen superhero adventure with a cast of super-powered characters we haven’t seen in theaters before.
Superman, Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and other Justice League superheroes are well-known. But has anyone envisioned their pets having superhero-like abilities? DC League of Super-Pets is an exciting upcoming movie that will introduce viewers to the brilliant super-pets. The animated film is based on the DC Comics title Legion of Super-Pets and the animated series Super-Pets. Although the film will showcase most of the same characters, it does not appear like the film will be a direct adaptation of either series but rather a fresh take on animal-based superheroes.
When Lex Luthor kidnaps the Justice League, Superman’s dog, Krypto, organizes a team of shelter pets with superpowers: Ace, a hound who becomes amazingly strong and invincible; PB, a pot-bellied pig who can grow to a massive size; Merton, a turtle who becomes superfast; and Chip, a squirrel who develops electric powers. Here’s everything we know so far about Warner Bros. Pictures’ C League of Super-Pets.
Superman and Krypto the Super-Dog are devoted best buddies who fight crime in Metropolis together. When Superman and the rest of the Justice League are kidnaped, Krypto must persuade the other pets to use their newly-acquired abilities to aid him in the rescue.
It sure isn’t easy being Superman’s dog! Krypto hails from Krypton and has superpowers like his owner, but his social skills are decidedly alien at the dog park, and he has no idea how to be ordinary. But when Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and the rest of the Justice League are kidnaped; while Krypto is exposed to green kryptonite as a motley crew of shelter pets is exposed to orange kryptonite. Krypto is stripped of his abilities while the other animals become all-powerful.Krypto must learn to be less alien; and more “human” to teach Batman’s dog Ace, Wonder Woman’s pig, PB, Green Lantern’s squirrel Ch’p, and The Flash’s turtle, Merton, how to harness their new powers, work together, and become the superheroes they were destined to be. But can they defeat a twisted guinea pig named Lulu and save the Justice League and Metropolis from destruction? And will a bunch of strays find homes with the most famous superheroes on earth?
Krypto the Super-Dog was created by Otto Binder and Curt Swan and first appeared in Adventure Comics #210 for DC Comics in 1955. The white canine, which resembles a Labrador Retriever, has superpowers identical to adult Kryptonians, including extremely acute auditory and olfactory senses. Dwayne Johnson leads the DC League of Super-Pets cast as Krypto the Superdog, while Kevin Hart voices Ace the Bat-Hound, Batman’s devoted canine. Marc Maron (Joker, GLOW) has been confirmed as Lex Luthor, and Keanu Reeves takes on the role of Batman.
Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live, the Magic School Bus Rides Again films, Ferdinand), John Krasinski (the Quiet Place films, Free Guy), Vanessa Bayer (Saturday Night Live, Office Christmas Party, Trainwreck), Natasha Lyonne (Show Dogs, Ballmastrz 9009), Diego Luna (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Maya and the Three), Thomas Middleditch (Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie), and Ben Schwartz (Sonic the Hedgehog, Duck Tales) round out the rest of the star-studded voice cast.
Jared Stern and Sam Levine will direct DC League of Super-Pets. Stern worked on The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie, while Levine worked on Bolt and Gnomeo & Juliet, so the two are expected to bring something fun for both adults and kids. In addition to starring in the movie, Dwayne Johnson will produce it with his collaborators Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia through his Seven Bucks Productions brand. Patricia Hicks and Jared Stern are also co-producers on the project. Meanwhile, executive producers John Requa, Glenn Ficarra, and Nicholas Stoller are on board.
