CSI: Vegas Review 2021 Tv Show Series Season Cast Crew
Seriously, the first thing that just jumps off the screen at you is the egregious amount of make-up that are on all the actors. To be fair, Jorga Fox looks pretty darn good but way too much make up on her and everyone else.
As far as the content goes. It is bland. They did a great job hitting all the diversity checkmarks but they didn’t put any effort into giving the cast personality. The personality and “science” of the first few seasons of the original show was what made it shine. There is nothing here with the new cast that will draw people back. I suspect ratings will be as mediocre as they were when the show went off the air in 2015.
The CSI lab director hits all the diversity checkmarks – A divorced strong black woman with zero flaws or personality. Is this really diversity if all of her characteristics are the most cliche and repeated choices you can find on TV now? Not really, they can do diversity way better. Shame on them.
As for the rest of the cast, Jorga is great as always but the rest of the cast feel like LA models and not CSI investigators that will roll their sleeves up and get into a crime scene. Based on the pilot, it seems like they cast the show based on skin tone and gender without anyone reading lines. I know that I am harping on the diversity but that is only because it being done so poorly- Have a diverse cast and give them something interesting to do and say. With the original show you Immediately knew who Catherine, Warrick, Sara, Nick and Grissom were and what made them tick. As for the new show, other than some superficial qualities, I can’t tell you anything about the new cast. Part of that is bad writing for their characters and part of that is trying to rely on the previous shows characters so hard.
They are going to have to find a way to make this new iteration stand on its own or else it will be a revolving door of stars from the previous show coming back as guests with hopes of getting a ratings boost. I’m guessing it will end up being the later. I wouldn’t be surprised if this show goes one season and done. I may watch episode 2 but I don’t really want to. I hope I am wrong but this is aiming to be a stinker.
One final note is that visually the show tries too hard- Lots of jerky single take drone shots that push in on a building or an actor- Those shots look like crap- but overall, yeah, visually it feels like CSI.
